Since our foundation, Surrigo have regularly worked with Pearson, the world’s leading learning education publishing company, on a wide variety of projects including both print and digital titles.
For eighteen months between 2016 and 2018, we worked with Pearson and their partners, White Rose Maths, to develop and deliver a new primary maths programme, Power Maths, to provide inspiring and innovative high-quality resources. Surrigo’s role was to provide project management of a range of workstreams in order to deliver:
● Twelve pupil textbooks
● Twelve pupil workbooks
● Twelve teacher’s guides
● Online subscription
The key challenges were the complexity of the content and very demanding and inflexible deadlines. In order to achieve this, we developed different solutions for editorial and production delivery and built very strong supplier relationships by:
● Creating and managing schedules to deliver each component
● Working with third-party suppliers to deliver work on time and to the high standard required
● Sense checking and revising workflows to ensure milestones were in place and allocated tasks were accurate
● Monitoring all project deliverables and identifying, managing and mitigating potential risks and issues
● Providing support to all team members, both internal to Pearson and external suppliers, by communicating effectively and providing clear guidance
● Motivating the team to deliver high-quality content within very tight timescales
● Monitoring the capacity and workload of both the internal and external team in order to identify any points at which resource was insufficient
The Power Maths course was accredited by the DfE and is recognised as a leading mastery course in the subject.
